I couldn't agree more. The dynamics, separation, and frequency range are where this version really shines. It might not be Santana's finest work (there are quite a few covers and some disco-like touches), but it's still expertly played, and giving this MoFi a listen is an absolute delight for my ears.
Lots of tracks are covers, which are pretty good, and some original stuff too. Awesome album! It's like disco but with a heavy rock twist. Killer guitar solos, that's what Santana does best.
Back in the day, I had the original 1978 vinyl, but it disappeared somewhere along the way. A few months back, I tracked down a Near Mint copy, and it was fantastic. In my opinion, it's one of Santana’s finest works. But this week, I managed to snag one of these stunning 45th anniversary red editions from Music on Vinyl. And wow, it's like a fog has lifted. Maybe not a thick one, but definitely a light one. I'll just echo what fotoram and vinyltourbus have already said instead of repeating the same things. This is easily one of the best vinyls in my collection, hands down. I'll keep my original for display and play this one from now on.
Absolutely the most overlooked album out there!!!! That 70's Latin vibe is unmatched, hands down!!! If Santana's your thing, this is his peak performance!!!! Just sayin'🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
This one really hits the spot for me. I've got the original from '78, and this is even better. The red vinyl is perfectly flat and spins just right. The highs are a tad bright, but it's easy to manage. This reissue is incredibly open and detailed. The groove floor is nice and quiet. I'm really happy with this pressing.
