salmon dance aint one to forget, its kinda funny. the other songs? they're alright.
THE NIGHT IS US sees the Chemical Brothers fully leaning into their superstar DJ role, starting with the reflective opener "No Path to Follow" and then jumping into the lively title track. The pop rock vibe of "All Rights Reversed" is enhanced by the Klaxons' energetic vocals, but it's the instrumental "Saturate" that truly showcases their distinctive sound, transitioning from a steady 4/4 beat to a wild drum loop or the cozy groove of "Der Spiegel." However, the electro beat of "Do It Again" steers back towards a pop feel, and while I enjoy the humor of "The Salmon Dance," it seems a bit out of place with its goofiness. Likewise, “Burst Generator” comes off as quite ordinary until it starts to blend into the chaotic psychedelia of “A Modern Midnight Conversation.” Willy Mason’s haunting vocals bring an intriguing layer to “Battle Scars,” as does Tim Smith’s gentle voice on the more introspective “The Pills Won't Help You Now.” It's a solid album, but it doesn't quite reach their full potential.
Perfect copy. It sounds absolutely amazing, no hissing, pops or crackles at all. The quality is top-notch
I got this pressing. The artwork is good, no problems. They switched the cover later.
The Chemical Brothers dropped "We Are The Night" way back in 2007. Honestly, I'm not on board with the idea that it's one of their top albums. The title track is absolutely killer as the opener ("No Path To Follow" is just setting the stage). But there's a couple of tracks that don't quite hit the mark for me, around a 3/5. "All Rights Reversed" and "Das Spiegel" are the ones I'm talking about. That said, there's some serious bangers on here. "Saturate" is the standout track. "Do It Again" has that killer beat. And "Battle Scars" is another solid one. Plus, there's a bit of humor thrown in with "The Salmon Dance". Not my favorite from the Chemical Brothers overall, but it's definitely worth giving a spin!
