This film is absolutely fantastic, with a unique yet equally enchanting soundtrack. I decided to watch it just because I recalled the title and knew The Chemical Brothers had created the music, and after one viewing, it's well on its way to becoming one of my all-time favorite movies. EVERY element is perfectly in place, perfectly complementing the on-screen action. There are instances of their typically intense beats, yet they're beautifully balanced by what Tom & Ed excel at – atmosphere. Whenever those analogue synths kick in, they're infused with an indescribable spiritual and wistful quality that you can truly lose yourself in. In short... spiritually uplifting nostalgia. And while it mostly leans into their more contemporary synthpop style, there are moments that evoke their 'holy trinity' – Exit Planet Dust, Dig Your Own Hole, and Surrender, which is a lovely touch. The movie itself is incredibly empowering. It makes me feel invigorated. To witness this brilliant, genetically-enhanced young girl, stripped of her childhood and humanity, discover her true self... utilizing her mind-blowing, Neo-like reflexes and self-defense skills to take down villains... following her instincts at every turn... overcoming her social struggles... it's an exhilarating journey. While I won't reveal too much – if you possess remarkable abilities yet feel alone and isolated, this film is for you.
I'm really enjoying this album. The beats in 'The Devil' are fantastic. This movie's soundtrack is amazing.
