I'd say this is among my all-time top albums from any artist.
Primal's unyielding urgency is utterly captivating, especially when paired with Adrian Belew's talents. On that note, if Fela Kuti's music is new to you, make it your priority to explore his work next!
Incredible live tracks spanning from 1977 to 1982. The first disc is out of this world: crisp, clear, and unfiltered Heads. The instruments sound phenomenally captured. It genuinely feels like you're part of the crowd...
Initially considered an album just for dedicated fans, it's actually a fantastic way to experience the band's captivating music evolution in a brief timeframe, culminating in a unique style that wasn't quite pop or funk.
Rhino has outdone themselves with this fantastic record, top-notch quality all around. The instrumental sounds and how they play together are absolutely thrilling. Maybe David's vocals are a tad off on the first side tracks. Two thumbs up!
