Product Description

Dive into the enigmatic world of Talking Heads with their 1979 masterpiece, "Fear of Music." This seminal album, a cornerstone of the new wave and post-punk genres, showcases the band's innovative sound and thought-provoking lyrics. Released under Rhino/Warner Records, the album spans 57 minutes of captivating tracks, including fan favorites like "Life During Wartime" and "Cities," along with lesser-known gems like "Animals" and "Drugs." The 2005 remastered edition offers a crisp, renewed listening experience, while the inclusion of alternate versions and an unfinished outtake provides a fascinating glimpse into the band's creative process. Talking Heads' unique blend of rhythmic complexity, David Byrne's distinctive vocals, and their exploration of urban life and societal issues make "Fear of Music" a timeless addition to any music collection.

  • Disappointing Portuguese Pressing

    3 out of 5 stars
    NeopuCay7 January 2026United States🇺🇸

Came across it in NM state, so thought I'd take it home. The printing error doesn't bug me, but the sound is flat and lifeless... Not typical for Portuguese releases, they're usually really really good, so it was a shock to me.

  • Dull, Lifeless Sound

Sound is dull and lifeless. Not much to like here.

  • Talking Heads' Solid Middle Ground

    5 out of 5 stars
    dilvebuk17 November 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

once again, Talking Heads delivers a great album, though it may not be as profound or groundbreaking as "More Songs About Buildings And Food" (the one before this) or as brilliant as "Remain in Light" (the one that came after). Still, it's packed with some fantastic tracks. "I Zimbra" kicks off with a made-up language. "Life During Wartime" could easily fit on "Remain In Light" with its rapid beat and anxious vocals - "I've changed my hairstyle so many times now, I've got 3 passports, a few visas, don't know what I look like. No time for disco, no time for party, no CBGB's. I ain't got time for that now. We use computers, we use fake ID's ..." My top picks are definitely "Heaven" and "Memories Can't Wait". They really resonate with me and always bring back memories (that can't wait when listening to this LP). Best lyrics: "There Is A Band In Heaven, They Play My Favourite Song, Play It Once Again, Play It All Night Long..There Is A Party, Everyone Is There, Everyone Will Leave At Exactly The Same Time. It's Hard to Imagine That there Is So Much Fun. Heaven Is A Place Where Nothing, Nothing Ever Happens. When this Kiss Is Over, We'll Start Right Again And Everything Will Feel Exactly The Same." A lovely vision of paradise ...

Average quality record. It sounds dull and lifeless next to my European version.

  • Vinyl Sounds Fantastic

This vinyl sounds fantastic. Life During Wartime is among The Talking Heads' best songs.
