  • Vinyl Excellence Absorbs Listeners

    5 out of 5 stars
    toifqixc11 April 2025United States🇺🇸

The vinyl version of this is absolutely amazing. The records are thick and the sound is incredibly loud. The packaging is just fantastic. It's so easy to get completely absorbed in it.

  • OG CD Box Set Wins

    4 out of 5 stars
    YANEVDSXAOB25 January 2025United States🇺🇸

LET me tell you, this box set is the OG version, NOT that 5 LP deal. The sound and pressing quality on those vinyl sets? Eh, it's hit or miss. I gotta say, I'm team CD box set. It's even got a better look. But hey, there's always gonna be some folks willing to drop 300 bucks on the vinyl craze, no matter what.

  • Can Box's Timeless Appeal

    5 out of 5 stars
    Dyovg15 August 2024United Kingdom🇬🇧

Five years post-release, this Can box just keeps enhancing its appeal. With extensive listening sessions, I consistently uncover new elements to appreciate. It's a treasure trove for devoted Can fans. Malcolm Mooney's tracks highlight his avant-garde approach, utilizing his voice much like a sampler or loop, hitting 'repeat' repeatedly. Nearly every track in this collection offers fresh insights into Can's discography, featuring early versions of classics, such as - Vitamin C (Dead Pigeon Suite) and Mother Sky (On the Way To...). The live tracks are solid too, appearing to be of higher quality than some other live releases I've encountered (like the CD included with the Can Box, which I wasn't particularly impressed by). Minor issues are negligible - I wouldn't have included Godzilla Fragment, as it's too brief and cut off to be engaging. Apart from that, this is all fantastic material.

  • Radical West German Avant-Garde

    5 out of 5 stars
    Hakez-F.1 June 2024United States🇺🇸

This incredible box seems to bridge CAN's more avant-garde side, even hinting at a hazy connection (totally subjective, mind you...) to FAUST and VU. Either way, wow, the radicalism of many folks in West Germany back then was truly captured in the group's music. To rephrase the late, great Mark E. Smith, we should all aspire to be Damo Suzuki//

  • Can's Captivating Collection

    4 out of 5 stars
    jejprbaicn2922 January 2024United Kingdom🇬🇧

Here's an amazing collection from one of Germany's most creative and captivating bands. Can was always recording in their Inner Space Studio at Schloss Nörvenich, and most of this material is absolutely riveting. The tracks featured in this box set, put together with such dedication, aren't just for die-hard fans—they're essential listening from the Cologne group. As previously noted, the audio quality is superb, the booklet is well done, and the poster's pretty cool too. The only downside is that quality control seems to have slipped a bit. I bought two copies when it first came out, had to swap one out because some records had surface marks, and the second even had two noticeable scratches. The replacement copy had some surface marks as well, but thankfully nothing that affected playback.
