  • Worth the Scrubbing Effort

    5 out of 5 stars
    MeqspLqicyas29 November 2025United States🇺🇸

It took quite a bit of scrubbing to make my version decent - definitely not a flawless pressing, that's for sure. But hey! Once it was cleaned up, it's absolutely gorgeous. You gets what you pays for...

  • Can's Debut: Mooney's Impact

    5 out of 5 stars
    regkandlin24 November 2025United States🇺🇸

...maybe not expected, but i'm more into can's first album "monster movie", featuring the strong, unique voice of their initial singer malcolm mooney -though later works like "ege bamyasi" (72) & "future days" (73) are way more representative of the musical journey taken by holger czukay, irminschmidt, michael karoli & jaki liebezeit...

  • Solid Debut with Standout Track

    4 out of 5 stars
    GyiSenokFirzav22 November 2025United States🇺🇸

This album is a solid one, I genuinely dig the experimentation and some of the sounds here - "Father Cannot Yell" is hands down one of the best tracks I've come across lately, that vibe is off the charts. Can't quite give it a perfect score though, as I reckon the harmonica (?) on track 3 is a tad irritating and the final song could've been a bit shorter, but all in all, an 8 out of 10 for a debut ain't too shabby. Definitely worth a listen.

  • Blissful Crisp Sound

Level and hush. Fabulous sounding record with crisp details, spacious sound, absolute bliss to hear.

  • Virgin Megastore's Record Abundance

    5 out of 5 stars
    Qlitr25 October 2025United States🇺🇸

I recall visiting the newly opened Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street around 1979 or 1980 and being utterly amazed by the sheer volume of stock they had. I was accustomed to smaller record shops with a section dedicated to each band, containing just one copy of each of their albums. But in the Megastore, there were sections like Monster Movie, Future Days, Tago Mago, and so on, each filled with dozens of copies of the same record. It was an astonishing sight back then. They must have been selling like hotcakes to have such displays. It was a massive place, like a dream come true. Anyway, one day I went in and they had dozens of copies of Monster Movie. All brand new, with that tan label UA edition. They were all priced at £1.99. I reckon the Virgin warehouse must have been overflowing with this stuff back then. Of course, I only bought one - why would anyone need more? Actually, the Virgin branch at Marble Arch was often the best place to visit... they seemed to have a direct pipeline to the warehouse, and you'd often find stuff there that wasn't available anywhere else. The usual Virgin store I visited at the time was the Brighton branch, but in comparison, it was a tiny outlet and couldn't hold a candle to the vast London stores.
