Every time I consider adding this to my sell pile, I end up giving it another spin. It might be my least favorite Can album in my vinyl collection, but it's an enjoyable listen from beginning to end. And let's not forget the band member photos on the back cover? Wow. I just wish they'd all been wearing shades.
Can someone clarify why one corner's cut is so round? It seems like it was done with some sort of press.
Kicking off Side A, "Dizzy Dizzy" seems like a goodbye to the "third-world spells" that dominated their earlier works. An electronic violin echoes, painting a picture of an uncertain future, much like "Roma," distant from the masses. As it transitions to the B side, the music, now devoid of its core, spirals into a decadent decline. None of the Holger Czukay basslines scattered throughout this album serve as the heart of the tracks. The bass that resonated in Public Image Ltd's "Metal Box," often likened to Can's work, was "not" expressive, but it "was" an echoing void. That's not the case here. Instead, it hammers out a certain rhythm with a feeble sound. This album, initially appearing subdued, opens the door to the dread that Can hints at.
Can someone tell me what sets this pressing apart from the other first pressings?
Awesome new release! The audio quality is crisp, vibrant, and the bass is top-notch.
