  • Surface Noise Issues, Alright Otherwise

    3 out of 5 stars
    puqijsggikwuzkev9 January 2026United States🇺🇸

Tons of surface noise on either side, even post-wash. Aside from that, it's alright. Not exactly impressive when it comes to dynamics, but it's fine.

  • Vinyl Collection Thrills

    5 out of 5 stars
    xee.k.nhgiw10 September 2025United States🇺🇸

After grabbing the new X&Y pressing on recycled vinyl, I couldn't resist ordering this one too! I've been wanting to add this album to my collection forever, and I'm thrilled I finally did because it sounds incredible!

  • Coldplay's Cosmic Evolution

    4 out of 5 stars
    Zuyikufoacirej29 August 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto is a concept album that takes you on a cosmic journey, depicting a battle against sound and color on the planet Silencia, where a dictator named Major Minus rules with an iron fist through media manipulation. It's quite a profound concept, and for the most part, the album delivers a strong performance, with the band venturing into new musical territories while keeping their signature sound intact. You can hear them delving deeper into electronica and other fresh ideas, much like U2 did with Achtung Baby and Pop (as if Coldplay needed any more comparisons to their Irish peers). The tracks are quite engaging, offering a satisfying listen for those open to the band's evolution. I appreciate that Coldplay consistently experiments with each album, yet remains unmistakably themselves. The vinyl release is well-executed, though it does carry a slightly cold, digital tone (probably on purpose). The soundstage is expansive and pristine, with each instrument distinctly separated and clear. No complaints about the vinyl quality itself. I would have preferred a double LP format considering the number of tracks per side, but the sound doesn't feel as cramped as you might anticipate with seven songs per side. Crank up the volume, and dive in!

  • Eco-Friendly Vinyl Delivers

    5 out of 5 stars
    BPB8524 August 2025United States🇺🇸

The sound quality on this eco-friendly vinyl reissue is absolutely fantastic, even better than I had expected. The audio is rich and there's hardly any surface noise at all. I'd absolutely recommend it. I've already ordered two more Coldplay albums that have been re-released in this format.

  • Packaging Shines Despite Sound Issues

    4 out of 5 stars
    Auzerege424920 August 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

The packaging and everything else about this release is absolutely fantastic! It's a must-have if you can get your hands on a copy. The design, content, and material quality are all top-notch! However, when it comes to the vinyl's sound, well... That's where this edition falls short, sadly. There's a lot of noise, like the sound of two stones being ground together or a plane flying overhead. It's quite distracting. The silver lining is that it's only noticeable during the quiet parts, especially in the silences between tracks. The rest of the time, even if it's still there, you can't hear it. In my case, I think it sounds really great, with excellent dynamics. I don't know, maybe it's due to the needle in your setup. My turntable has a NVE95 series cartridge, but it's not a basic one or a high-end one, so maybe that's why I find the sound on this record pretty balanced. All in all, I don't think it's that bad. I wouldn't advise any fan to skip this one just because of the pressing quality of the LP. The main selling points of releases like this are the packaging and the content. And this one shines in those areas! Sure, if the pressing was at least decent, this would be a perfect edition. But, come on, if you want pristine sound, there's always the CD too 🤭😁In short, go for it if you have the opportunity. Don't hesitate. By this point, 14 years after its original release, and if you're reading this here on Discogs, you already know the LP doesn't sound great... Or it does, just it's not quiet. But considering everything, that's the only weak point among all other strong features. It sure looks good and it's a nice piece to display.
