Overseas, Further Down the Spiral presented a quite distinct version compared to what was offered in the US. This edition features a live rendition of "Hurt," which was showcased in the promo clip. Additionally, it packs the more straightforward mixes from the American release, plus two club bangers, "Heresy (version)" and "Ruiner (version)," both remixed by Charlie Clouser. Also recognized as Halo Ten, Volume Two. It's as excellent as the US version, possibly even superior. Strongly recommended and a must-have. 5/5
In my opinion, this album was absolutely worth the price just for Coil's take on Downward Spiral. The song is packed with layered vocals that play out at different speeds, gradually building up to a powerful yet understated climax right at the Moment when the trigger is pulled. When I first listened to it, I thought it was hands down the most accurate representation of the Moment I'd ever encountered. That pivotal Moment where everything in life leads up to, and the thin line between that and the end is balanced precariously between a muscle twitch and a trigger. Then, the release. I guess if you're not particularly drawn to the psychological aspects of the darker side of human nature, it might not hit as deeply, but then again, you probably wouldn't be into NIN stuff in the first place.
