This record is hands-down the top-notch pressing I've got in my entire collection, it outshines even my 180 gram pressings, with incredibly crisp drums and bass, there's *Absolutely* zero crackling or surface noise to be heard
Flawlessly pressed. Not a single surface imperfection, zero pops, zero cracks, just sheer perfection. Incredibly dynamic with an ENORMOUS soundstage. No distortion (perhaps a tiny bit on Give In To Me, but that's always been there) or harshness whatsoever. I nearly shed a tear during Who Is It, the audio quality is THAT phenomenal. (I'm serious, that track is sheer brilliance). It sounds almost identical to my Music on Vinyl version as the original mastering is top-notch. I'm intrigued how a remaster might sound, as it's already perfect. AND lastly, it's a visual stunner with those striking red and black swirls. Kudos! Now, Sony/MJ Estate, when's the History repress coming?
Tohle desky má podle mě zvuk tak nějak průměrný. Ano, vypadá to hezky, ale zvuková kvalita není tak úžasná. Je tam docela hodně hluku (připomíná to vítr, tohle mají spousta Picture disců). Je to tady docela rušivé a občas to přehluší některé detaily v písních. Nejvíce to ruší například v písni "Why You Wanna Trip On Me", kde to narušuje tiché pasáže. Takže i když deska vypadá pěkně, pokud chcete perfektní kvalitu, radši si kupte klasickou černou, nebo jinak barevnou verzi. Ale ne picture disc.
Incredible!!! This remaster is absolutely fantastic, and while listening, I've even picked up on some sounds that were hidden in earlier versions. I've been a huge fan of this album since it first came out and was convinced I knew every note by heart after countless listens! The sound quality is so much improved, particularly the highs that I sometimes felt were a bit too bright, and the beats that could be a tad overwhelming. The bass is incredibly deep, the clarity is vastly superior, Michael's voice is even more emotive, and the instruments and sounds are more distinct. The soundstage is also much larger. I've seen some people criticizing 'Jam'. Personally, I've always thought 'Jam' sounded a bit chaotic and felt the original mix wasn't all that effective. The beats were too boomy, and the sounds weren't distinct enough. I actually prefer the video mix of this track. As I'm writing this, I realize I should revisit the 2001 remaster and compare the versions to decide which one I like best. This remaster breathes new life into this classic, thank you MOFI! I don't get the complaints about the low volume. This remaster has more dynamics, and I don't see the issue, you just need to adjust the volume if needed.
This is an amazing pressing, in my opinion. It's incredibly punchy and the sound quality is crystal clear. I truly believe they've gotten the most out of the master tapes this time. Absolutely fantastic. [I'm playing this with an Ortofon 2M Black cartridge.]
