Product Description

"Atom Heart Mother" is the fifth studio album by Pink Floyd, released on October 5, 1970, under their own label, Pink Floyd Records. This eclectic album spans a variety of genres, including progressive rock, psychedelic rock, classic rock, symphonic rock, and art rock, showcasing the band's versatility and innovative spirit. Clocking in at 52 minutes, the album is a journey through soundscapes and compositions that push the boundaries of rock music.

The album opens with its titular track, "Atom Heart Mother," a sprawling, 23-minute suite that features a full orchestra and choir, blending rock with classical elements. This ambitious piece sets the tone for the rest of the album, which includes a mix of shorter, more accessible tracks like "If" and "Summer '68," and the extended, atmospheric "Fat Old Sun." The album closes with "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast," a whimsical, multi-part composition that incorporates various sounds and effects.

"Atom Heart Mother" is a testament to Pink Floyd's experimental approach to music, blending rock with orchestral arrangements and innovative production techniques. It's an album that rewards repeated listens, revealing new layers and nuances with each playthrough. For fans of Pink Floyd and progressive rock, this album is a fascinating exploration of the band's early work and their evolving sound.

This 1989 Reissue LP is housed in a gatefold.

  • NM Condition, Crank Volume

    5 out of 5 stars
    Psiuy21 December 2025United States🇺🇸

Excellent pressing, no issues with bass & drums but it's gotta be in NM condition cause it's mastered a bit low and you gotta crank up the volume - only gripe is that there ain't no locked groove at the end, if you can deal with that

  • Vinyl: Pink Floyd's Best

    5 out of 5 stars
    glxzotjoatr7 December 2025United States🇺🇸

Pink Floyd is best experienced on vinyl. Sure, there might be some decent CDs or SACDs, but this is the real thing. The audio quality is amazing, it's a really nice pressing, and the overall sound reproduction is top-notch.

  • Top-Notch Vinyl Quality

    5 out of 5 stars
    ripeworvonvi28 November 2025United States🇺🇸

The pressing on this one is top-notch, the record is perfectly flat, and it plays smoothly with no distortion (I've got a backup copy, as the first one had a more noticeable scratch). The audio quality is fantastic. The cover is also really well-made. I've had this album since the late 90s, and it's been my go-to listen ever since. I didn't own it in this sound quality initially, so I'm really enjoying it now. Highly recommend it. Have a blast...Played on: Technics SL-100C, Ortofon Concorde Music Bronze, Rega Fono MM MK5, Technics SU-G700M2, Yamaha NS-777, Vinyl Cleaner Pro-Ject VC-E
