  • Winter's Dark Delight

    5 out of 5 stars

This album is absolutely fantastic. I can't wait for winter to arrive, so I can just lay in bed in the dark and listen to this <3

  • Solar Fields' Weakest Effort

    3 out of 5 stars
    kaeqkego24 March 2025United States🇺🇸

Unlike "Movements", this album doesn't hold much intrigue. Sure, it's decent and carries the Solar Fields signature, but it comes off as quite uninspired and doesn't surpass—or even match—its predecessor. The issue isn't the spacey vibe, I'm all for it, but it's the glaring lack of creativity and, in my opinion, hard work. Lazy, as I've mentioned. It absolutely is. This is by far the weakest Solar Fields release.

  • Solar Fields' Stellar Remix Triumph

    5 out of 5 stars
    SLiisicx2 October 2024United States🇺🇸

Magnus Birgersson is an absolute musical prodigy, and I'm not exaggerating here. Anything he puts his name to is worth your time. This is especially true for his Solar Fields projects, which, in my opinion, represent some of the finest music being created today. Now, I know some people might have reservations about this being a remix album, but I don't mind at all. Great music is great music, right? If it sounds good and feels fresh, who cares if it's a remix? Let me give you an example. The Solar Fields track "Insum" from "Leaving Home" is an incredible song, truly a masterpiece. But the remix of it on Ambient Planet 2? It might just be even better. So instead of one amazing track, you've got two. That's a win in my book. This brings me to Second Movements. The original Movements album was so good that it would be quite a task to remix it poorly. While Second Movements isn't quite as outstanding as I'd hoped, it's still so impressive that you'd be missing out if you didn't give it a listen. The first track is a reimagining of "Sol". I'll listen to "Sol" remixed a hundred times, it's that good. This version is more laid-back, but still fantastic. I thought it would be hard to top this, as "Sol" was my favorite track from Movements. But I was wrong. Other standout tracks: "Feel" takes its time to develop, but it's a worthy addition to my favorite tracks from Movements. "Rediscovering" is also excellent, even better than the original in my opinion. My absolute favorite track on this album is Track 5. It might not be a top 5 Solar Fields track (try making that list, it's tough!), but it's definitely in my top 10. It has this celestial grandeur, like the sound of galaxies singing. Disappointments: "The Road to Nothingness" was my second favorite track from Movements, a really powerful one, but this remix feels a bit uninspired and lazy. Also, "Bngl.w" has a good interlude, but overall, it's not as good as it could have been. All in all, this album is a must-listen. Out of 100, I'd rate it an 86. It's Solar Fields! Even their lesser works are still pretty amazing.

  • Solar Fields' Blissful Winter Warmth

    5 out of 5 stars
    8xozu24 May 2024United States🇺🇸

Upon my first listen to this altered movements, I was genuinely impressed and anticipated something truly exceptional. Perhaps my initial enthusiasm stemmed from my familiarity with the original movements and the melodies I already knew. But now, after multiple listens, here's my take: it's unlike anything else, enveloping you in a cozy, dense, atmospheric haze of bliss. Play it anytime, anyplace, and you'll find it's downright addictive. Maybe it's the subtle warmth of the bass, but I do know it's nestled itself in my mind, perfect for those winter moments of aural comfort. It's all about Solar Fields' distinctive sound creation. This is Hot, and not just because of that blissful bass.

  • A Darker Journey Home

    5 out of 5 stars
    UYurvyKrolWyoYmomumb12 March 2024United States🇺🇸

Consider this a sequel to the tale told in 'Movements'. This review is my vision of the bridge between the first and second albums. Here's how I picture this album. Many, many years have gone by since the enchanting, yet shadowy lands from the initial 'Movements' were last visited. The traveler from the first album is gone, forgotten by all. The world has transformed, something significant has transpired, and the population has dwindled (that's the minimalism for you). But there's a woman, isolated for countless years, who is a descendant of the original explorer from 'Movements', gearing up for a lengthy expedition to a location that's been haunting her thoughts for ages—the very same sanctuary from 'Movements'. The woman, so reminiscent of the first adventurer, could hardly believe her eyes when she saw that the images in her mind were real. However, something was off; it was gloomier, lonelier, and lacked the same vibe as her dreams. The sanctuary had lost much of its vigor, but upon recognizing the new explorer as kin to the one from the past, it played its music with all its might. The explorer found it to be music of pure tranquility. She traversed the same spots as the first explorer, but her journey was different, darker.
