My version arrived a bit warped but luckily it's not a problem, it works well and this new recording sounds fantastic.
This album is fantastic! I hadn't listened to it before, and I'm really enjoying it. It's such a captivating piece, especially considering it was made right after Bill Berry's departure.
The audio's alright, but it doesn't quite match up to the reissue of New Adventures… At close to £40, I felt like I was paying a bit extra for this, and for a 25th anniversary edition, it's pretty lacklustre. The sleeve is standard quality with just a single colour insert. I was foolishly hoping for more, like a booklet or some behind-the-scenes stuff about the album - even a gatefold would've been a nice touch. Feels like a money grab, and overall, I'm pretty let down by the quality of everything, especially since I'd been waiting ages for this and it's one of my favourite REM albums. Won't be rushing to get the other re-releases this month. Disappointing.
The pressing is alright, but it's certainly not flawless. I mean, it's GZ Media we're discussing here. With Universal not avoiding having their releases pressed there, we're stuck with it or we'll have to skip these releases altogether.
The audio quality is alright. The sound is smooth and comes with good inner sleeves. I might be the only one, but the hissing on Stipes' vocals is quite noticeable.
