Navigating the landmarks of electronic music (and beyond), this sonic architectural masterpiece exudes an enduring grandeur. Once again, the skilled DJ and composer, DJ Shadow, showcases his artistry by blending the palette of diverse musical past into a contemporary perspective, uniquely communicated to the present.
The Private Press is certainly up there with DJ Shadow's finest work, the songs are atmospheric yet vibrant. Tracks like You can't go home once more and fixed income are true standouts. Definitely worth a listen, as is all of Shadow's back catalogue.
this one's a bit of a letdown. there's a few decent songs, but overall it's not up to his usually top-notch quality. if your a fan, it's worth picking up, but don't expect another endtroducing part 2.
Excellent pressing, fantastic depth, clarity and dynamics. Sounds incredibly clean, a bit of surface noise in places but it's often in the original sample, you're just hearing it clearly for the first time. Nothing is hidden here, it's nice and raw. No issues with the jacket, it's a bit of a hassle to get to disc 2 but overall, it's great.
Little did I know when I brought this CD years back that I was getting the UK Version, but I'm truly happy about it because it includes the original rendition of Giving Up The Ghost as a bonus song. Interestingly, this track along with Fixed Income, Giving Up the Ghost (Album Version), Mongrel and Meets His Maker are pure DJ Shadow style. The UK edition is the sole single disc version that features the original cut of Giving Up The Ghost unless you choose the 2disc editions. Youtube clips don't differentiate between the album and original version so you've gotta go by duration, the one uploaded at 6:20 is the original version, all others running at 6:30 are the album version.
