Product description

DJ Shadow's "Endtroducing..." is a groundbreaking album that has left an indelible mark on the landscape of electronic music. Originally released in 1996 and reissued in a deluxe edition in 2005, this album showcases Josh Davis' mastery of sampling and his unique vision for instrumental hip-hop. Produced over two years using an Akai MPC60 sampler, "Endtroducing..." is a testament to DJ Shadow's meticulous craftsmanship and innovative approach to music production.

The album is a rich tapestry of sounds, blending elements of trance, rhythm and bass, hip-hop, and vintage music from the 1960s. Each track is a carefully constructed piece, layering samples and beats to create a cohesive and captivating listening experience. From the iconic "Building Steam With A Grain Of Salt" to the introspective "Why Hip-Hop Sucks In '96," the album is a journey through DJ Shadow's sonic universe.

The deluxe edition of "Endtroducing..." includes a bonus disc featuring remixes, singles, and live recordings, providing an even deeper dive into DJ Shadow's creative process. The album has been consistently praised and voted one of the best records of the 1990s by numerous publications, cementing its status as a classic in the genre.

With its intricate production and diverse influences, "Endtroducing..." is not just an album but a landmark in the evolution of electronic music. It reflects a lifetime of vinyl culture and presages the hyperlinked world of music, where narratives are built from fragments. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to DJ Shadow's work, this album is a essential listen for anyone interested in the art of sampling and the boundless possibilities of electronic music.

This 2024 Reissue Remastered Repress 25th Anniversary Edition 2LP set is housed in a gatefold.

  • Endtroducing's Timeless Auditory Bliss

    5 out of 5 stars
    QofVois21January 5, 2026United States🇺🇸

There's no need for an extensive critique of this classic album. You know those "Top 1000 albums to listen to before you die" lists? Well, "Endtroducing....." is definitely on it, at least for any fan of electronic or hip-hop music. The organs in "Organ Donor," the pianos in "Building Steam With A Grain Of Salt" and "Midnight In A Perfect World," the violin in "Stem/Long Stem"... it's hard not to feel something when these tracks play. Now I get why Pretty Lights mentioned Joshua Davis as an influence when he started making music. Thanks, Mr. Davis, for this LP that's more than just a fantastic sample collage—it's a genuine musical journey that's pure auditory bliss. I'd also recommend his first album, "Psyence Fiction," which he made with James Lavelle under the "U.N.K.L.E." name. You can hear similar dark, industrial vibes in tunes like "The Number Song" that are present in U.N.K.L.E.'s tracks like "Unreal" and "Bloodstain.

The audio quality is fantastic, with an amazing bass response. The vinyl is super quiet and both records are as flat as a pancake.
