Product description

Released on 1 January 1984, Talk Talk's 'It's My Life' is a seminal album that embodies the spirit of new wave and synthpop. This 43-minute masterpiece, courtesy of Parlophone UK, is a testament to the band's innovative approach to music. The 1984 album features a string of captivating tracks, including 'Dum Dum Girl', 'Such a Shame', and the titular 'It's My Life', all of which have been meticulously remastered in 1997 to enhance the listening experience.

The audio quality is fantastic and has a great kick. What a shame that only side A is to my liking...

  • Optimal Media's Flawed Pressing

    5 out of 5 stars
    RijHiejfujDecember 9, 2025United States🇺🇸

I've only listened to one copy up to this point, and it sounds fantastic— EXCEPT for the horrendous surface noise that messes up the quiet parts on almost every song. This is after I gave it a good cleaning with my Hannl RCM. Sadly, Optimal Media in Germany is notorious for using dirty stampers, and this release is a prime example. Plus, there's no-fill distortion. I'm gonna try another copy, but I'm not hopeful it'll be much better. It doesn't matter how good the sound is if the pressing is trash. If the second copy's just as flawed, this will be a total audiophile flop. Could've been amazing...

I own 3 first press LPs of 1984 from various countries, but this one has the top-notch sound quality of them all!

  • Gorgeous pressing, great pick

Gorgeous pressing here. I'd bet an original UK version might sound even better overall, but this one's a great pick.

  • Side A Ruins Album

Same as others have said. Starts off sounding alright...then it doesn't. The mess on the last song of Side A ruins it. Been cleaned real good + even did an ultrasonic soak too.

About Talk Talk

Talk Talk, formed in London in 1981, began as a synth-pop group, quickly gaining traction with their debut album "The Party's Over" and follow-up "It's My Life," both of which spawned international hits like "Talk Talk" and "It's My Life." Their sound evolved significantly over the years, blending new wave and synthpop elements with more experimental and jazz-influenced styles. The band's 1986 album "The Colour of Spring" was a critical success, featuring the beloved singles "Life's What You Make It" and "Living in Another World." Their 1988 release "Spirit of Eden" marked a bold shift towards a more atmospheric and improvisational sound, laying the groundwork for the post-rock genre. Despite commercial challenges, Talk Talk's innovative approach and rich musical evolution have left a lasting impact on the music world.
