Delighted to see this reissue sans the "bonus track" of Matte Kudasai (Alt. Mix) (check it out here: https://www.discogs.com/release/12125596-King-Crimson-Discipline). I wouldn't have purchased that version as Discipline is the perfect closer. Fantastic "remix" of this timeless album. Haven't compared it to my 1981 copy (you can find it here: https://www.discogs.com/release/7814582-King-Crimson-Discipline), but it sounds fantastic to me!
It's a mystery to me why this particular pressing hasn't been reviewed yet, but let me tell you, musically speaking, it's an outstanding debut from the "Discipline" era lineup. I'm a huge fan of that whole period, though some folks consider this the pinnacle. The sound is well-balanced and full-bodied. I do wish Warner bros. had used QUIEX II audiophile vinyl for this, which was an option back then…I haven't made any comparisons to other pressings or reissues, though… The 40th anniversary box set or the dual CD/DVD package with 5.1 and high-res mixes are fantastic too, offering a new perspective on this timeless work. The music feels as fresh today as it did back then. The more I listen, the more it grows on me… no matter how I analyze it or dissect it, it holds up. I WISH YOU WERE HERE TO EXPERIENCE IT!!!
This is an absolutely flawless reproduction with an amazing sound quality. I haven't noticed any imperfections on the vinyl, and the instruments are incredibly crisp and powerful. I'm confident this is a demo record in my collection.
I'm more into the red, blue, and yellow albums from the 80's, with the red one being my favorite. I particularly love the track where Adrian Belew plays Elephant Talk...
The initial UK version of this sounds absolutely fantastic. Highly suggest it. Don't spend your cash on other versions.
