In the eighties, this album was a massive hit, all thanks to Maggie Reilly's Moonlight Shadow. It's arguably the top pick among the trio of albums that paired one lengthy instrumental piece on one side with a bunch of pop tracks on the flip (the other two being QE2 and Five Miles Out). The recording quality is excellent, dynamic, and has a crispness that's almost digital. The title track is a standout composition compared to earlier works, packed with vibrancy and impact. Side one offers one instrumental piece and a few vocal tracks, with Maggie Reilly, Jon Anderson, and Roger Chapman lending their voices. However, Taurus 3 feels a bit lackluster compared to its predecessors, Taurus 1 and 2.
This album isn't my top pick from Oldfield, but it's incredibly powerful. The bass is fantastic and it really packs a punch.
