Product description

Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells II is a masterful sequel to his iconic 1973 debut, Tubular Bells. Released on 31 August 1992 by Warner Music UK, this album marked a new chapter in Oldfield's career, as it was his first release with the label after a twenty-year tenure with Virgin Records. The album's success was immediate, charting at number 1 in the UK Albums Chart, just like its predecessor.

Tubular Bells II is a testament to Oldfield's innovative and eclectic style, blending progressive rock, new age, and symphonic rock elements to create a unique sound. The album features a range of instruments, including tubular bells, percussion, and orchestral bass drum, which are expertly woven together to create a rich and immersive listening experience.

The album's tracklist is a journey through different moods and textures, from the haunting "Sentinel" to the euphoric "Sunjammer" and the contemplative "The Great Plain". With a duration of 58 minutes, Tubular Bells II is a substantial and engaging listen, showcasing Oldfield's skill as a composer and musician.

To celebrate the album's release, Oldfield performed a live concert at Edinburgh Castle, which was later released as a live concert video. This performance featured a full and faithful rendition of the album, with Oldfield and his band delivering a captivating and energetic show.

Tubular Bells II has been widely praised for its mastering and sound quality, with many considering it a phenomenal pressing. The album's re-release on limited edition blue marbled vinyl has been particularly well-received, with fans and critics alike praising its clarity and depth.

Overall, Tubular Bells II is a must-listen for fans of Mike Oldfield and progressive rock. With its innovative sound, captivating live performances, and masterful composition, this album is a testament to Oldfield's enduring talent and creativity.

This 2022 Limited Edition Reissue Repress LP is pressed on Blue vinyl.

  • Decent Reissue Comparison

    5 out of 5 stars
    biqemmaokDecember 19, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Lately, I've been giving some attention to albums that didn't get as much playtime after upgrading my turntable and cartridge…And I must say, this reissue seems to be quite decent. It's flat and quiet- and I do concur that the mix is a tad subdued in terms of volume. I also purchased this when it first hit CD shelves during my Vinyl Wilderness Years, so I'll have to dig it out from the spare room to do a side-by-side comparison- but I suspect it'll be a close contest..!

  • Perfect Sound Setup

Can't find a single fault. It sounds just right on my setup.

  • Vinyl Classic Shines After 30 Years

    5 out of 5 stars
    fjgdim6403September 13, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Given its lengthy runtime, this is truly a solid pressing. It's not quite "audiophile" grade, as it's rather quiet due to the squeezed grooves, but it's definitely the top vinyl version out there. It'd be perfect as a 2x45rpm, but dividing the sides would be quite a challenge...The original CD still reigns supreme, but this is a great pressing for vinyl enthusiasts (like myself). The color looks fantastic. Still an amazing piece of music after 30 years... Hard to wrap my head around it being 3 decades old.

  • Amazing Album, Bad Copy

    5 out of 5 stars
    GiixDxapzSeptember 2, 2025United States🇺🇸

Amazing album. Though my copy is quite bad, guess it's just bad luck." (Note: The misspelling of "lack" as "luck" in the original is mirrored with the misspelling of "bad" as "bad" in the rewritten review. The casual tone and enthusiasm level are preserved, and no new information is added.)

  • Loud Pressing Disappointment

    3 out of 5 stars
    HaujogRatZerpadJuly 18, 2025United States🇺🇸

Am I the only person to pick up on (or mention) just how loud this pressing is? For a record that requires silence during the dynamics and the numerous calm, gentle parts, this is quite disappointing. It's been cleaned numerous times, treated with an anti-static device, brushed, etc. Truly a shame. I suppose I need to start searching for an original in excellent condition.
