Marley's debut posthumous album. I'm curious if the production would've had this polished sound if he was still around. Naturally, it includes the timeless classic Buffalo Soldier, and I also really like Rastaman Live Up!. The rest is typical Marley, but not every song is as impactful as the standout tracks from his earlier works. The most unexpected track is "I Know", which has a disco vibe. If Marley had lived into the 1980s, would this have been a hint of his future sound? Maybe it was the producer's decision to make at least one track more commercially appealing for the era, perhaps to get into the dance clubs. Setting that track aside, Confrontation offers a mix of enjoyable to groovy tunes. There have been posthumous albums from other major artists that are far worse than this.
Fantastic pressing coming from EU. Super flat and silent. Comes with an antistatic inner-sleeve. The gatefold is gorgeous, made with top-notch materials. Heavyweight black LP at 180g. Amazing work, thanks a lot!
This Japanese pressing is absolutely mind-blowing with its insane dynamics. The sound is flat and dead quiet, with zero surface noise. The soundstage is wide, big, and bold, giving it a run for its money against some of my top audiophile pressings. I'm a huge fan of Japanese pressings, and for good reason - the quality is consistently high, around a 9/10. The Japanese take great care of their belongings, and it shows. I bought this record in VG+ condition, but it's really more like NM. This one's a keeper for my collection forever ❤️ Source Wiki:Confrontation is the thirteenth and final studio album by Bob Marley & the Wailers and the only one released posthumously in May 1983, two years after Marley's death. The songs on this album were compiled from unreleased material and singles recorded during Marley's lifetime. Many of the tracks were built up from demos, most notably "Jump Nyabinghi" where vocals from the I-Threes were added, which were not there when Marley released the song as a dubplate in 1979. In addition the harmony vocals on "Blackman Redemption" and "Rastaman Live Up" are performed by the I-Threes in order to give the album a consistent sound – on the original single versions they are performed by The Meditations. The most famous track on the album is "Buffalo Soldier."The album cover depicts Bob Marley taking the role as the military saint Saint George slaying the dragon as a symbol of evil. Perhaps not coincidentally, this motif was also displayed on the reverse of the imperial standard of Rastafari icon Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, though the direct model for the album art is a British recruitment poster from World War I. Inside the album sleeve is an artist's depiction of the Battle of Adowa where Ethiopian forces defeated Italy in 1896.
Just a small detail: the French edition features a gatefold cover.
The sound quality of this Scandinavian version is absolutely stunning. The bass is rich and powerful, while the highs are clear and warm. The vocals are excellent and blend perfectly with the rest of the audio experience.
