The audio quality is a bit muddled, and I'm not sure if that's due to the mix or the vinyl pressing itself (I haven't listened to the rest of the album, only the tracks they played live at the concert I attended). It's a bummer because this song is way better than what they were aiming for in "I'll Be Your Girl.

I beg to differ with some of the other folks who've left their thoughts here. Sure, a few instruments, especially the percussion, might be a tad buried in the mix. But those jangly electric guitars on "Long White Veil" and "Burial Ground", and the acoustic ones on side 2? They're right up front and sound fantastic. I've got to say, my AT VMN SH stylus really brings out the highs and mids on this one, way better than my usual AT VM 95ML that I use for my 60's and 70's vinyl. The right needle can make all the difference, and this record proves it. I'm really pleased with how it sounds overall. I grew up with bootlegs back in the day, and let me tell you, this ain't no bootleg quality like someone else suggested. I even gave these records a good clean with Tergikleen and a disc washer before spinning them. There was a ton of dust in the water, more than I usually see with new records. Maybe that's throwing some folks off? I got my black vinyl copies from Amazon on 4/29/25, and they match variant #1. My only real gripe is those polylined inner sleeves that came with them - they're a pain to put back in the jacket. I swapped 'em out for thinner poly&rice paper ones, and now they slide right in. I don't usually talk about the music itself in my reviews 'cause everyone's tastes are different. I've got about 1800 records, mostly first presses from the 60's and 70's British rock scene. This one's nowhere near the worst I've heard.

I wholeheartedly echo what others have said. Musically, this album is absolutely brilliant, with gorgeous melodies and delightful country-alt/folk rock throughout. Not a single track falls short. It's a collection of hymns, truly. However, the sound quality is a letdown. It's muddy and a tad chaotic. I can't say if that was the intention, but it's disappointing nonetheless. This music warranted a top-notch audio treatment.
