Yellow Submarine" and "All You Need is Love" feel a bit out of place on Side A, but the 4 exclusive songs are absolutely brilliant. As for Side B, the orchestral pieces, which let's face it, aren't the reason most of you are picking up this album, are beautifully done. It's just those first and last tracks on Side A that let it down a bit.
I've never been too keen on the white record, but yesterday I gave "A Day in the Life" a listen for the first time and ended up playing the whole thing non-stop. I'm completely amazed! Sure, "Yellow Submarine" and "All You Need Is Love" are catchy tunes, but they set the stage for four tracks that are absolutely phenomenal and incredibly diverse. Even if the Beatles considered them filler, I think they're better than many of the extra tracks on the white album. Side B is outstanding and showcases George Martin's brilliance. The Bach influences (like "Air on a G String") and the classical elements are just fantastic, and the sound quality is top-notch! This Beatles album is way more underrated than it should be, for sure!!!
Any updates on how it sounds? What's the deal with the pressing quality? Thanks, thx, thaänks
