Product Description

"Things We Lost in the Fire" is the fourth studio album by the American slowcore band Low, released on January 22, 2001, under the independent label Chair Kicker's Union. This 53-minute journey through the realms of slowcore, dream pop, and post-rock is a testament to Low's ability to craft atmospheric and introspective soundscapes.

The album opens with "Sunflower," a gentle and melodic introduction that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Tracks like "Whitetail" and "Dinosaur Act" showcase the band's signature slowcore style, with their signature slow tempos and layered guitar work. "Medicine Magazine" and "Laser Beam" bring a touch of dream pop to the mix, with ethereal vocals and shimmering guitars.

"July" is a standout track, with its haunting melody and poignant lyrics. "Embrace" and "Whore" delve into more introspective themes, with raw and honest lyrics that resonate with the listener. "Kind of Girl" and "Like a Forest" continue the album's exploration of melancholic and reflective themes, while "Closer" and "In Metal" bring the album to a close with a sense of resolution and finality.

Throughout "Things We Lost in the Fire," Low's ability to blend different genres and create a cohesive and immersive listening experience is evident. The album is a testament to the band's skill and creativity, and it remains a beloved and influential work in the slowcore and dream pop genres.

This is a 2025 Limited Edition Numbered released as a LP.

Excellent all around. Counts among my most cherished. This release includes some timeless tracks that truly stand out in this version, especially when compared to the CD or streaming options. I revisited it after Mimi's passing.

Before you buy, look around at shops near you, they might have this item. I've noticed it going for decent prices recently, so don't pay the inflated prices from resellers.

This record is among the finest sounding in my collection. It's utterly gorgeous and eerily captivating.

  • 2008 vs 2016 Version

    5 out of 5 stars
    nabapqyo16 February 2025United States🇺🇸

Is there a way to tell the difference between the 2008 and 2016 versions? My copy has 'kranky.net' written under the logo, so it's not the first one released.

  • Embrace: Incredible Pressing

    5 out of 5 stars
    zapzsbqzw3 November 2024United States🇺🇸

Incredible pressing. “Embrace” 🫠🫠🫠 For me, there's a bit of harshness on the vocals, but it's barely noticeable, and doesn't detract from the rest of the amazingness. RIP Mimi. What a tragedy. Debut III / OM10 / Mani / MF A3.5 / Contour 1.3SE
