Secret Name - Low

Product Description

Low's "Secret Name" is a mesmerizing journey through the realms of slowcore, dream pop, and post-rock, released on March 30, 1999, under the independent label Chair Kicker's Union. This 52-minute album is a testament to Low's ability to craft atmospheric and introspective soundscapes that linger long after the last note fades.

The album opens with "I Remember," setting the tone for the hauntingly beautiful melodies and poetic lyrics that follow. Tracks like "Starfire" and "Weight of Water" showcase Low's signature slowcore sound, with their minimalist instrumentation and emotive vocals. The dream pop influences seep through in songs like "Missouri" and "Soon," offering a sense of ethereal beauty and tranquility.

Low's experimental side shines in tracks like "2-Step" and "Immune," incorporating post-rock elements that add depth and complexity to the album. The duality of human nature is explored in "Lion/Lamb," while "Days of..." and "Will the Night" delve into themes of time, change, and the passage of life.

Closing the album is "Home," a poignant and reflective piece that encapsulates the essence of "Secret Name." Low's ability to blend genres and create a cohesive, immersive experience makes this album a standout in their discography and a captivating listen for fans of atmospheric and introspective music.

This is a 2021 Reissue Repress released as a 2LP set.
