On the lower end, it's quite light, but that's my sole critique. Not a single bit of noise on this record, even during the quiet moments, making it an absolutely fantastic album to have. Elbow's complexity truly warrants a full orchestra, and it elevates the album to new heights. Simply stunning.
Symphonic Makeover Falls Flat

Some tracks shine more than others under the symphonic makeover. Honestly, this album just doesn't hold a candle to the original double 45 RPM version. It's a bit light on bass and has some peculiar mixing moments, with vocals sounding distant. You can spin it any way you like, but it doesn't captivate me like other symphonic albums. It's a must for Elbow collectors, but it's not the powerhouse it could've been. Everyone else should probably track down the original 45 RPM double album.
