Incredible pressing…picked up the newest re-issue of this record and figured an original would sound superior, luckily I was spot on, such a rich, warm analog tone, if you can snag a clean copy, grab it!
Does anyone know if it's the same? My vinyl is exactly alike, but the label on the record says 'tire like' instead of just 'CBS'.
This 1980 double album by the American rocker is a groundbreaking work, with songwriting that's quite impressive. As is common with double albums, there are a few weaker tracks scattered in, but the lyrics here are among Mr. Springsteen's more subtle ones. The recording quality is decent, but the mastering is honestly quite poor. Early European pressings were alright, better than the US ones, but all CD pressings sound terrible. The initial CD transfer from 1982 was used on all releases until 2005 when a Japanese pressing appeared that was a bit better, though it was reportedly not from a master but from a tape copy. Great album for fans of adult-oriented rock, but it's in desperate need of a remaster.
After catching Bruce and the band on their anniversary tour, each song on this album instantly transports me back to that incredible show...it's absolutely worth every penny I just spent on it.
For your info: I've been gathering promos for ages, and this white label version is super rare to find out there. It's usually just got a gold stamp with a standard red label. Another one that's kinda similar is “McCartney II”.
