Product Description

Bruce Springsteen returns with "Magic," a powerful and introspective collection of songs that blend his signature heartland rock sound with a touch of modern edge. Released on September 25, 2007, under Columbia Records, this album is a testament to Springsteen's enduring artistry and storytelling prowess. Clocking in at just under 48 minutes, "Magic" is a concise yet impactful journey through themes of love, redemption, and the human condition.

The album opens with the title track, "Radio Nowhere," a song that immediately sets the tone with its driving rhythm and evocative lyrics. Springsteen's distinctive voice weaves tales of everyday life and larger-than-life dreams, as heard in tracks like "Livin' In the Future" and "Girls In Their Summer Clothes." The album also showcases Springsteen's knack for crafting memorable melodies, as evidenced by the infectious "Magic" and the poignant "Terry's Song."

"Magic" is not just a collection of songs but a cohesive narrative that reflects Bruce Springsteen's growth as an artist and his ability to capture the essence of the American experience. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to his music, this album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience.

This 2016 Reissue LP is housed in a gatefold, pressed on 180g vinyl.

  • Springsteen's Magical Transformation

    5 out of 5 stars
    wydiaffeufo2 July 2025United States🇺🇸

Oh boy, isn't it amazing when an artist does a complete turnaround... not just their voice but their songs too, barely recognizable... well, that's exactly what Bruce Springsteen has done with “Magic.” He's delivered a wonderfully personal album, one where the songs remind me of the late Warren Zevon, yet wrapped up in the style and class of Bryan Ferry. Bruce has made a significant change here, guiding us home like a “Gypsy Biker” to a whole new set of sounds. Instead of the music being the main focus, Bruce has continued his deep reflection, figuring out who he is, as both a wealthy man, a man who wants for nothing, yet still longs because there's a burning in his heart for not just the music, but for a passion... though I don't think he's quite found out who he is or what he's passionate about... other than the music itself. But that's not strange at all, I've been searching for myself my whole life... in my mind I'm still twenty one, in my mind I can still rock all night, in my mind my feet still have wings... and yes, I struggle when I try to figure out just who I am at this stage. I do know that I spend a lot of time observing, seeing things for what they really are, feeling the truth... and perhaps that's where Bruce is too, and his passion is trying to find that voice, that voice, like a warm hand caressing a lover's skin, finally moving in perfect time with her. I for one am willing to wait, because here on “Magic” Bruce still manages to conjure the magic out of his signature guitar sound, but more, there's a feeling that his guitar is now his friend, rather than an extension of himself... it’s as if he has actually learned to play, or perhaps he’s taken some tips after all these years from those around him, like Nils; who is nothing short of top notch when it comes to guitar playing... and come to think of it, several of his songs have that early Nils vibe going on. Make no mistake, beneath the vocals rests all of the instrumental work one would expect from Bruce, in all of their glory, it’s just that he no longer feels the need to hit you over the head with it. All of the musicians sound centered and at peace... the sax played by Clarence floats like smoke, while the rest of the band rolls on... with complete enchantment. This is not an album that is going to blow you away, there will never be another “Greetings From Asbury Park,” or a “The Wild, The Innocent & The East Street Shuffle”... Bruce started this reflective journey somewhere during the release of “Tunnel Of Love,” and while every now and then there's a blazing spark to remind us of what brought him to the world's attention... for the most part, Bruce seems to be playing with an electric folk sort of sound, much like The Byrds did in the mid 60’s. So if you reset your mind, there's nothing disappointing here... it is all just different. One of the major differences is that the music feels thick, as if there are no spaces at all... the sound is all inclusive and all encompassing, leaving you barely any room to catch your breath. Me? I don’t want to keep buying the same albums over and over again... his last few releases have been a breath of fresh air for me, and I’m enjoying them... yeah, it may be my age, it may be Bruce’s age... but his music speaks to me on a face to face level, and therein lies the magic.

  • Springsteen's Underrated Gem

    4 out of 5 stars
    Gzjew_Njevs18 April 2025United States🇺🇸

5 out of 5 as a Bruce Springsteen album, but a 4 due to the so-so pressing quality. I reckon this is a repressing from the 2007 version, so the pressings are likely identical. This album is seriously underappreciated in Bruce & the E Street Band's discography. Definitely give it a spin!!

  • Average Classic Springsteen Pressing

    3 out of 5 stars
    KomSeox19 March 2025United States🇺🇸

Another typical pressing of a classic Springsteen album. Not his usual hard rock, more aimed at the masses. But the audio quality is so average, like they cut, mixed, and pressed it in the john.

  • Muddy Mix, Great Songs

    3 out of 5 stars
    dozotehjfa3812 October 2024United States🇺🇸

I'd love for the whole CD to have that "Magic" track feel, with clear instruments instead of the muddled wall of sound that most of it is. Such a shame, cause in my opinion, these songs are the best since "Born in the USA". Until they release a better mix, we're stuck with this clearly subpar version of the CD.

  • Bruce's Magic Shines Despite Flaws

    5 out of 5 stars
    Kiv__Wzuojit23 June 2024United States🇺🇸

Despite the clear production problems, this is one of Bruce's finest albums. It's high time Magic got a fresh mix.
