This is an amazing reissue of The Boss' legendary album, masterfully handled by Robert Ludwig! The 1984 classic has never sounded this good. The bass is powerful and deep, with crystal-clear highs and zero harshness. The midrange is spotless, never muddy or unclear. The soundstage is expansive and incredibly engaging. I've owned several versions of this LP, but this one truly stands out. You can find a Near Mint copy for around $20-$25. It's an absolute steal at that price. Highly, highly recommended!
It's reassuring to discover that the sibilance problems aren't due to my setup. I'm using an ATVM95ML cartridge, which is quite lenient, yet Bruce's "s" sounds are truly awful. It's a real pity, considering that every other aspect of this pressing sounds fantastic. It's astonishing that this made it to the market with such severe sibilance issues... present throughout the record, not just in the inner grooves. No other record in my collection has sibilance problems like this pressing. I'll have to hunt for a good, clean earlier version. All the other reissues from this box set are free from the sibilance issues heard on this one (Bruce does have some sibilance, but not as bad as this pressing!). What a shame.
In my opinion, this album is absolutely phenomenal. I'm lucky to have a copy that's in perfect shape.
This album is absolutely phenomenal, truly one of the best ever created. I'm lucky to have a copy in Mint condition.
Awesome album. Audio quality ain't the greatest. It's the one record I kept from when I was a kid.
