  • Simon's Solo Brilliance

    5 out of 5 stars

I'm a huge fan of Simon & Garfunkel's tunes, but I don't find myself missing Garfunkel on Paul Simon's first solo record. "Run That Body Down" is a true standout, possibly one of the most overlooked (or, let's be honest, one of my faves) tracks in Simon's collection. "Armistice Day" showcases some stellar guitar playing, and "Peace Like a River" gives off those classic country blues vibes. "Duncan" was later reworked and appeared in better form on LIVE RHYMIN'. This is a 1972 Pitman pressing, and it delivers a lively, warm, and rich sound. My copy plays smoothly, except for a touch of faint surface noise at the start of each side.

Paul Simon truly at his best here. I believe 'Duncan' could be one of his greatest songs ever.

This Pitman pressing is absolutely amazing, though I did manage to find one in mint condition. In my view, it's one of Simon's best recorded albums. There's not a single bad track on here. It's just pure, unadulterated joy start to finish.
