This could very well be my all-time favorite Leonard Cohen record. I've forever admired his songwriting prowess, but the production on this one is absolutely top-notch. Producer John Lissaeur, being a recent grad, was a stroke of luck to collaborate with Cohen. The unadorned yet perfectly fitting instrumentation behind Cohen elevated his music to a level where he could keep his poetic finesse while also being a clever musical composer. This album is firing on all cylinders and gifted us with more than a few classics from Cohen, including my personal favorite track of his, "I Tried To Leave You". The US second edition (with new cover art) sounds phenomenal.
I might have never heard a better sounding record. Amazing. It's like Leonard's right there in the room with you.
Flawless pressing. The sound quality is stunning, with minimal surface noise (top-notch materials and craftsmanship). They've truly done this album proud with this release. 🙏🏽🔊🔊❤️
Man, this pressing is absolutely fantastic. I own a Pitman Pressing with the edited cover, but this Canadian one is way better, with a sound that's so full and rich.
I've got a copy with KPG@CA in the grooves. No sign of Wes Garland here...? It's surely the Sundazed pressing I own. So, are there two Sundazed pressings mastered by different folks?
