Look Into The Future - Journey

Product Description

Journey's debut album, "Look Into The Future," released on January 1, 1976, under Columbia Records, is a classic rock gem that showcases the band's early sound and songwriting prowess. Clocking in at just over 41 minutes, the album is a tight, energetic collection of tracks that blend the raw power of classic rock with the melodic sensibilities of AOR (Album-Oriented Rock).

The album opens with "On a Saturday Nite," a high-octane rocker that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Journey's signature harmonies shine on tracks like "It's All Too Much" and "She Makes Me (Feel Alright)," while the title track "Look into the Future" offers a glimpse into the band's ability to craft memorable, anthemic rock songs. "Midnight Dreamer" and "I'm Gonna Leave You" showcase the band's versatility, with the former being a slow-burning ballad and the latter a bluesy rock track.

With its powerful vocals, soaring guitar solos, and tight rhythms, "Look Into The Future" is a testament to Journey's early talent and their ability to craft memorable rock songs. It's a solid debut that hints at the greatness that would follow in the band's subsequent albums.

This is a 1983 Reissue released as a LP.

  • Journey's Underrated Psychedelic Gem

    5 out of 5 stars
    PxeafLpagisDovizgw16 November 2025United States🇺🇸

Haven't your ears yet experienced the Journey before Steve Perry? You're in for a treat! Their 1976 album "Look into the Future" showcases Gregg Rolie on lead vocals, a founding member of both Journey and Santana (who's in the R&R hall of fame with both bands), plus drummer Aynsley Dunbar, who's played with Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, Jefferson Starship, Lou Reed, and tons more (trust me, check his Wikipedia page). The guitar and bass are handled by Neil Schon and Ross Valory, who stuck with Journey even after Steve Perry joined. The album's got that early 70's psychedelic rock vibe, reminiscent of early Thin Lizzy and Deep Purple, but it's got a sound all its own that's incredibly complex. There are 8 tracks, with Rolie writing lyrics for 7 of them (the 8th is a cover of George Harrison's "It's All Too Much"). Neil Schon wrote the music for 3 tracks solo and contributed to 2 more. Despite being loved by many, this album's sales don't compare to Perry's era with Journey, making it an underrated classic that's fading in popularity.

  • Journey's Pre-Perry Gem

Awesome sounding album. I'm a fan of both Journeys and I adore how unique they are. Pre-Perry Journey is fantastic.

With hits like "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Open Arms," they have solidified their place in rock history. Their music is a testament to their ability to blend emotional depth with high-energy performances, making every track an experience.
