The audio quality is fantastic, but my version has some igd in the final tracks on each side. I'm using an LP70X turntable and I'm hoping it's just an issue with the turntable because I'm thinking about upgrading it in the near future.
Absolutely thrilled with this pressing! I went ahead and gave it an ultrasonic clean, and now it's almost completely silent. The mastering is fantastic for a digital cut, and the dynamics are strong overall. I haven't had the chance to compare it to my original yet, but I'm pretty sure it's quite close. Though, I doubt it surpasses a mint, all-analog original cut by Bob Ludwig. Still, I highly recommend this if you can't find a clean mint original. UPDATE! Just compared it to my original US pressing, and I actually prefer this new cut. The old one is cut hotter but seems to have a slight distortion in the highs, and it's not my vinyl because it's near mint. This Bellman cut smooths all that out while keeping the highs and mids airy and dynamic, and the lows are still punchy and thick. So, this is now my go-to copy! Highly recommend!
The audio quality is truly incredible. I can vouch for it, it's like the audiophile edition.
This pressing is absolutely fantastic, and the inclusion of the Stranger Things remix of "Separate Ways" on the 7” makes it an amazing deal. I had no clue that "Ask the Lonely" and "Only the Young" were from the "Frontiers" sessions. If they'd been added, this album would've blown "Escape" out of the water and been hailed as Journey's pinnacle. It's flawless. My store-bought copy was crystal clear. Not sure if the ones shipped to homes were any different.
Grabbed this Oct. 2023 remastered version today, complete with the 7" single. It's on black vinyl and has a really clean, quiet sound. I remember hearing the original 1983 release way back when, but I never actually owned it. So, I'm comparing this to the original CBS CD version I have. In my opinion, this is an excellent pressing, and the bonus 7" is a great extra. Given how much the original pressings cost these days, I was happy to pick this up for just $12.99 plus tax. If you can find it for $20 or less, it's a must-have for any Journey fan.
