  This is an amazing pressing! The vinyl is incredibly quiet, with a flat and clean sound. The dynamics here are out of this world, just as you'd expect from Chris Bellman. The jacket is sturdy, with that classic Stoughton-style tip-on heavy cardboard.

  Each time I listen, this album just gets more captivating. When I first heard “Goodbye Mr Blue,” the opening line had me concerned about Mr. Tillman: “This could be the final time, the last time I lace up my shoes.” I mean, he'd previously assured us, “I’ll ease up on the grim themes.” What's happening here?! Then he croons, “Head to the corner store and splurge on that fancy cat food.” It's as if he's establishing the vibe for the entire record. Has he finally finished his journey of growing up in the spotlight (as seen in “The Ideal Husband”) that his earlier works seemed to revolve around? Give it a thorough listen. Form your own opinion. The tracks and their arrangements are all nostalgic, reflective, and introspective. I've seen a lot of criticism aimed at this album. Sure, it's different. But it's still unmistakably FJT… absolutely brilliant. For me, this one's going to be tough to beat for album of the year. Everyone's mileage may vary...

  Absolutely loved this album. The way the songs are put together sets just the right atmosphere that fits the words so well. The vocals and music blend together beautifully. My vinyl copy sounds great with no noticeable issues when playing it. Really happy I went for the vinyl version.

• Fuzzy, Disappointing Vinyl

  This vinyl copy is quite disappointing. It's got a fuzzy sound that I don't experience with any of my other records. I'm really not happy with it and will probably set it aside to sell later. Update: I just pulled this out again for another listen, hoping that after a third cleaning it might sound better. Honestly, this might be the worst-sounding record in my entire collection, and I've got around 500 albums and 12"s. Looking through my collection, nothing else comes close to being this bad. Usually, if I get a bad pressing, I return it or sell it if it's a second-hand buy. This one is truly awful. The first track starts off okay, but the rest of side one goes downhill. Side two isn't as bad, but I'd still only rate it a 5/10. The second record is terrible. There's just a constant fuzz over everything. You know how a record sounds when there's a bit of dust on your stylus? That's how this sounds. My needle is clean—I clean it nearly every day! And none of my other records sound like this. I've played about half a dozen albums today, and they all sounded great. So, it's definitely this record. If you're thinking about buying a copy, I'm not sure what to say. Maybe I just got the one bad pressing. Just make sure to keep all the packaging in case you need to return it. I won't be buying any more FJM vinyl after this.
