This re-release is absolutely fantastic. The audio quality is superb, and the sleeve, inner, and label reproductions are spot on. I don't have my original UK pressing to compare it to anymore, but I'm confident it's very close. It's great to have the proper album again—meaning the right version of "Our Love Lies," not the acoustic "Love Will Tear Us Apart" 12" version that was on the 2-CD issue with "World Of Skin." Highly recommended!
Spotless gatefold here, and what a fantastic sounding album, truly one of the peaks of Swans' enduring journey.
I'm right there with mega_2122 on this one - it's hands down one of the best sounding albums I've got. I've also got the 2020 remaster, which is pretty great, but this one just hits different for me.
Among Swans' discography and within the Goth and Experimental Rock scene, this album stands as a landmark. It's an absolute must-have for any collection if you're a fan of the genres mentioned, a true masterpiece that shouldn't be missed.
I gotta say, if you're not satisfied with how the repress turns out (though it's not out yet, but who knows?), this record is one of my best-sounding ones, so I'd definitely recommend it. That being said, I'd bet the repress will sound fantastic, given how their other represses have turned out, so maybe hold off on dropping $100 on this just yet. EDIT: Turns out the new vinyl is just a straight copy of the original, so you might be better off grabbing an original if you're okay with spending a bit more.
