Missing insert, no hype sticker, and a flimsy paper sleeve... Yet, an amazing pressing.
This album sounds absolutely amazing. It's obvious that fresh lacquers were made, as the original pressings used to cut off the start of Big Casino. I don't own one of the old pressings to compare, but this version is freakin' awesome. They didn't mention it in the ads, but it's pressed on 180 gram vinyl. It's a solid, heavy record with almost no surface noise. I'd love if it came with an insert, but all in all, it's definitely worth grabbing.
Make sure you're getting the Sterling pressing of this record. I initially bought the 2024 reissue without realizing what I was getting into. Turns out, it was a digitally squashed reissue that didn't even come with the insert. So, I sent it back and went for an original copy. This one came with the insert and has 'Sterling on the runout'. What a game-changer! This original version totally outshines the reissue in terms of quality. The sound depth is the real deal here. Just a heads up, if you don't see a hype sticker or the insert when it's new, make sure it's the Sterling pressing, otherwise, you might end up with a PRP/GZ compressed mess.
The package lacks an insert or hype sticker, just a basic non-polyester sleeve. The sound appears squashed, likely due to a digital origin. Thankfully, "Big Casino" is complete with its intro. It's alright, I suppose. I'm familiar with this album and this version matches the digital sound. The vinyl is 180g. It seems similar to other reissues of "Bleed American," but this one's a small sleeve, not a gatefold. The spine info is also inverted. I'd be curious to know if anyone has this and the 2007 issue with the Sterling cut, which sounds superior. Update: The Sterling Cut is indeed far better and is cut from the master tape before the 2008 fire. It's a real shame the quality will degrade from here on out, over time.
