  • Exciting Vinyl Release

    5 out of 5 stars
    SKBUUDAPVAD21 October 2025United States🇺🇸

The vinyl's coming out on December 23rd :) I'm so excited, it's definitely a lock for the best music Oscar.

  • Vinyl's Missed Potential

    4 out of 5 stars
    yorjib.zizuk5 September 2025United States🇺🇸

The positives: For anyone curious, the symbol on the front of this album cover means "Solar System," which you can spot in the movie at 54 minutes and 41 seconds. There's a quick succession of translations that flash by for a few seconds, and this one is part of that sequence. It wasn't included in the GitHub folder that Wolfram shared from the movie's production. Overall, this is a well-made record. Most of the transitions between tracks are completely silent, and the detailed sounds come through clearly with hardly any hissing or popping. Kudos for including "On The Nature of Daylight" by Max Richter; I noticed many people complaining because it wasn't added to the CD or digital versions of the score. The negatives: It seems like the whole album lacks the depth and impact that it has in digital format. When you compare a song like "One of Twelve" side by side with the digital version, it's obvious that the bass was significantly reduced on the vinyl pressing. What a shame, I don't think it would have been that difficult to include it on the record. And the record doesn't show any noticeable improvement in quality over the digital version. This makes me question if it was sourced from anything better than what you can buy on iTunes. In my view, the cover art is too dark. It's meant to show the texture of the spaceships the Heptapods used to visit us, but the details in the texture get lost in a dark blur of shadows. Also, the text on the front is pixelated and way too small to read, even when you're up-close. By far, the most disappointing part of this pressing is that some quiet parts and transitions between songs on side D have such a high noise level you'd think that there was wind blowing through your headphones. Others have also mentioned distortion on side D as well, which is crazy because side D has some of the best music in the entire soundtrack! I want to give this record 5 stars because of how much I loved the movie, but I can't in good conscience. There are too many mistakes and missteps here, which as a whole warrant the removal of a star. I am happy to own this beautiful score on vinyl, but disappointed at their execution in bringing it to vinyl.

  • Hauntingly Beautiful Experience

    5 out of 5 stars

An experience that felt otherworldly. It was both haunting and gorgeous simultaneously.

  • Amazing Hush, Loud Recordings

Pops are amazingly hush and recordings are very loud. Much gratitude DG.

  • Masterpiece Score Quality

    5 out of 5 stars
    CvomlbCH27 July 2024United States🇺🇸

Out now as a re-release in a handy single pocket cover (no gatefold), the artwork is entirely matte black with the same embossed symbol. It comes with an insert and 2 x polylined paper sleeves. The sound quality on my copy is amazing. Not flawless, but very near to it. Johann's score is truly a masterpiece.
