This album is teeming with vitality in a manner that might not resonate with everyone, which is fair. As a devoted noise enthusiast, I believe this album surpasses its peers, both within the Drone Doom genre and most HNW projects. What captivates me most about Absolutego is the meticulous craftsmanship. When I take the time to truly concentrate on the track, I encounter so many strata of sound and intensity all converging to craft an almost trance-like auditory journey. It's not just "an extended noise" as I've overheard some folks label the album. Although it unfolds gradually, Absolutego is so intricately woven and brimming with sound that each passing minute offers the listener a wealth of nuances to detect, and even more to uncover upon subsequent listens. Absolutego is a must-have for noise aficionados. Despite its technical classification as a Doom Metal album, the approach here is far more likely to be savored by those already drawn to unyielding and merciless soundscapes. If the thought of enduring a solitary Merzbow album makes you queasy, that's probably a hint you won't find this album as compelling as I did. But anyone who's a noise fan should absolutely add this album to their collection.
This entire album feels like one continuous track, so I was anticipating some kind of sprawling drone piece, typical of Boris's style. Truth be told, it's a bit of a snoozefest. Unless you're aiming to own every Boris release out there, this one's pretty easy to skip. It's alright, and as a collector, it's kinda neat to have just for its rarity, but I'd struggle to think of a solid reason to replace it if I somehow lost my copy.
utterly mind-blowing. it's making me envious i couldn't catch this performance live, the crowd's reaction was so intense it was like i was being shook up.
Usually, is this album this quiet? I've got to turn the volume way up to feel any real power. You'd think Boris would know better than to put out such a low-volume record. The record itself is in great shape, but just like the other reviewer mentioned, mine had some scuffs right out of the packaging. As for the music, this is a classic Boris album, and any drone fan should have it in their collection.
