Excellent quality pressing. Crystal clear sound with zero surface noise. Absolutely thrilled with my buy.
This is a great pressing with excellent separation and soundscape. It's a enjoyable, laid-back listen with a nice variety of tracks. No fluff or filler, just top-notch vocals and skillful playing. I recall that 'I Shot the Sheriff' was always on the radio, and it still holds up after all these years. I'm particularly fond of Side 2; it's got a fantastic vibe from beginning to end.
I grabbed this CD as part of a 'Clapton' bundle and it cost me next to nothing. I already owned the 11-track RSO version and honestly had no clue there was a 10-track version out there. What a pleasant shock! The sound quality is even better on this 10-track version. It's a gorgeous sounding CD.
I purchased a used VG+ version that needed a good clean before I could play it. Once I gave it a thorough cleaning, the sound quality was fantastic, with hardly any surface noise at all. I'm really pleased with this copy. This entire album is a true masterpiece, save for the last two tracks on Side B. I think Clapton might have been taking it easy towards the end of the album. But the rest of the tracks are so incredible that I can't help but give it 5 stars. Still, I'd definitely put this in my top 10 Clapton albums of all time.
The lows go even deeper, the highs soar even higher, and the soundstage opens up wider than the 2025 green version. But it's a bit more aggressive and some parts can be a tad too intense... 'Let It Grow', for instance, is a real test for sibilance with anything less than high-end arms/tips. If this pressing didn't have those rough patches and also came with quieter vinyl (yeah, the green one's compound is superior), I'd probably prefer this version overall. But those two issues are a bit distracting during playback, which means I'll likely stick with the more manageable green one! Those with native DSD SACD players or the ability to rip DSD should ultimately go for the impeccably mastered/balanced SACD for the absolute best sounding version!
