Absolutely an underappreciated album. It kinda appeared out of the blue back then - when the band wasn't exactly on a roll. It's the type of album that keeps getting better with each listen. More straightforward and sharp than the previous one, featuring stunning melodies, fantastic lyrics and really enhances the band's discography. I bet the prices for this one will shoot up in the coming months - once the new album drops and people figure out that there's only one pressing of this album out there.
I picked up a brand new, sealed copy of 4.13 Dream for a fair price not too long ago. I wasn't overly impressed with the album when I streamed it on Spotify, but giving it a spin on vinyl changed my mind. It's not among the Cure's finest works, but it's certainly not terrible and holds your attention quite well. The Geffen pressing doesn't quite match up to the older Fiction releases, and the sleeve feels a bit cheap, but if you're a fan of the band, it's worth grabbing at this price. It's a solid addition to any collection.
I've been a Cure fan since '84...this album is amazing...I agree with Robert Smith when he says if you're not into this album, you're not a true Cure fan...simple as that. I bought it new and the sound was perfect, quiet, and the overall quality was top-notch. It's a really loud and dark record...but hey, that's what you'd expect from the title, right? If you're into albums like "The Top" or early Cure stuff, you'll probably love this one. It's different, but that's what makes it great. I've seen comments about the price...look, that's just how it is with discogs. Most Japanese vinyls used to be around $22 or $25...now they're way more expensive...it's just part of the collecting game. Want cheaper prices? Go for the CD. LOL. Plus, the best thing about the secondary market is you know exactly what you're getting...especially when it's from a private collector.
