I've got no issues at all except for the first track being trimmed, that's really uncalled for and a major letdown. The pressing is top-notch, the sound is flawless, but it's not naturally analogue, it's more like a 3D movie than a natural analogue recording. Mofi sounds incredibly perfect on this one, in my opinion, AP Kevin Gray's mastering repressings seem to sound more naturally analogue than Mofi's One Step, but this is still an audiophile top quality pressing, no question about it.
I paid a bit more than I should have for this copy, not realizing which year it was, I knew it wasn't a first pressing. Since I already own a Mofi One Step of this title, I'm also happy with this version. The sound overall feels more natural and just different than the Mofi. I love this pressingβit's a beautifully balanced reissue that will please those who prefer a more natural sound over the 3D-like sound that the Mofi One Step creates.
The cover art is absolutely stunning, and the physical quality is top-notch. But when it comes to the audio, this version is rather underwhelming. The whole album has a cold, clinical feel to it. It's all squashed together, and there's no real punch to the sound. Plus, there's a few annoying pops and clicks in there too. Give this one a miss, you can find much better versions for around the same price.
Quite "boring" - required a fair bit of bass boost - but a solid pressing overall.
Wow, I'm blown away by the audio and overall excellence of this record. I bought it online and only realized it wasn't on the Tampla/Motown label when it arrived. I was a bit concerned initially, but the moment I put it on, all my worries vanished. The vocals are crystal clear, the instruments are perfectly separated, the dynamics and soundstage are incredible, and that warm analog sound is just spot on. The artwork is also top-notch, with high-quality print and material. And let's not forget the two amazing bonus tracks. That shade of green really adds a touch of elegance to the whole presentation. This pressing definitely lives up to the standards of one of the greatest albums ever made. Two thumbs up!
