Product description

Coldplay's fourth studio album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, marks a pivotal moment in the band's discography. Released on 12 June 2008 by Parlophone UK, this album signifies a rebirth of sorts for the British rock giants. Following an arduous tour and recording process for their third album, X&Y, the band found themselves at a crossroads, wondering if it was time to call it a day. However, this album showcases Coldplay's determination to start anew and push the boundaries of their sound.

The album's title, Viva La Vida, is a Spanish phrase that translates to "long live life" or simply "live life", setting the tone for a collection of songs that explore themes of love, life, death, and war. The tracklist features ten captivating songs, including the hauntingly beautiful "Life in Technicolor", the atmospheric "Cemeteries of London", and the anthemic "Viva La Vida".

With a duration of 45 minutes, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends is a masterfully crafted album that showcases Coldplay's ability to craft soaring soundscapes and introspective lyrics. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, cementing the band's status as one of the most successful and beloved rock acts of their generation. This album is a testament to Coldplay's skill and artistry, and its impact can still be felt today.

This 2025 Reissue LP is pressed on 140g Clear vinyl.

  • Fantastic Album Quality

Amazing album, it sounds fantastic! No problems with the quality, what a fantastic record!

  • Fantastic Flat Quiet Album

    5 out of 5 stars
    jhdwDecember 3, 2025United States🇺🇸

This album sounds fantastic and is incredibly flat and quiet, I must say I'm happily surprised. The center labels appear a tad messier than usual vinyl (there's some air bubbles, as you can see in the pics here), but apart from that, it's pretty much flawless. Highly recommend it.

  • Coldplay's Masterpiece Before Pop

    5 out of 5 stars
    LojaxgovsreMafisNovember 24, 2025United States🇺🇸

This is a truly unique album. I'm an enormous fan of every track, and very few albums resonate with me as much as "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends" does. It's Coldplay's last album before they ventured into the endless abyss of generic pop... and that's precisely what makes it so extraordinary. The album is incredibly catchy and easy to listen to, yet it's filled with layers of music that you can discover with each listen—orchestrated melodies, electronic harmonies, unusual guitar effects, and more, making it an EXTREMELY reliable album to revisit. The music is flawless from start to finish. As for the pressing, it does the music justice. It captures everything I believe the album should convey when you listen to it. Every instrument is wonderfully audible, even in parts where you might argue the music is muddled in the standard mix. I love it.

  • EcoRecord Sounds Amazing

    5 out of 5 stars
    ElvulohaGuzafWazedNovember 1, 2025United States🇺🇸

The sole issue I have is that this reissue, like others, uses the single version of "Viva La Vida" instead of the album version where the transition to "Violet Hill" is seamless. Arghhhhhhhhhh. I trusted you, Sonopress!!!!!!!!!! Apart from that, this pressing sounds AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's way better than my Optimal Pressing reissue. There's hardly any surface noise, the quality control and mastering are superior, and the dynamics are incredible. I'm truly amazed at how good it is compared to the original CD, especially since it's an EcoRecord. 🤯 Fortunately, there was no locking groove, and the album ended just before the stylus hit the center of the deadwax. The Optimal Pressing on Side B has a locking groove that loops the last 2 seconds endlessly. This pressing, along with the First Edition and Notebook Edition of MOON MUSiC, are the best EcoRecord issues I own. The black EcoRecord pressings I have of "Parachutes," "A Rush Of Blood To The Head," and "X&Y" aren't bad, but they do have more noticeable surface noise compared to these clear pressings. I wonder if the pigment in the vinyl affects the noise floor at all. 🤔 Overall, I've been pleased with the EcoRecord issues of Coldplay's albums I've gotten recently. I'm thinking about replacing my entire collection of Coldplay LPs with these clear EcoRecords. I can't wait to hear how "Music Of The Spheres" sounds on clear EcoRecord. I was really let down by how noisy the Recycled Vinyl was. We'll see.

  • Finally, the Perfect Pressing

    5 out of 5 stars
    owobzyliavugOctober 31, 2025United States🇺🇸

At last! This is how the record was meant to sound. I purchased *several* of the first pressings when the album dropped and each one was a scratchy, muddled disaster. This fresh re-release is silent as a mouse from the get-go (fold). Over the moon that this stunning album finally received the quality pressing it was always meant to have. Strongly, strongly endorse!
