Undoubtedly, the vinyl version sounds superior to the CD (No surprise there!). It's crackle and pop-free, unlike what Ramzy described. The sound is well-separated with plenty of detail, offering a full and rich audio experience. I'm using a Nagaoka MP500 on an unmodified Kenwood KD750. As for the album: It's a bit of a mixed bag, not as consistent as "X&Y" or "Parachutes". Many tracks feel more like segues than complete songs (Take "Yes", for instance). Others come across as overly simplistic (like "Viva La Vida" and "Strawberry Swing"). Most tracks seem either like fragments of a song or unfinished pieces. "Cemeteries of London" stands out as the best track by far, and it alone makes the album worth buying, but only on vinyl (this version) due to the improved sound quality compared to the CD.
This record sounds fantastic and is super flat and quiet, I'm genuinely impressed. The center labels appear a bit untidier than usual vinyl (there's some air bubbles like you can see in the pics here), but apart from that, it's pretty much flawless. Highly recommend.
This is a fantastic pressing packed with music. Not my top pick from Coldplay, but it sounds incredibly full and dynamic on vinyl. The record is heavy, flat, and has no surface noise. Only track A5 has some sizzles. Probably the best way to enjoy this album. Highly recommended if you're a fan of this record.
This is an unparalleled album. I'm an enormous admirer of the entire collection, and few records resonate with me as much as "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends" does. It's Coldplay's final album before they ventured into the endless abyss of pop fluff, and that's what makes it as extraordinary as it is. The album is infectious and effortlessly enjoyable, yet it's packed with musical layers that you can explore with each listen—orchestral arrangements, electronic harmonies, peculiar guitar effects, and more, making it an incredibly reliable album to revisit. The music is flawless from start to finish. As for the pressing, it does the music justice. It captures everything I believe the album should convey when you listen to it. Every instrument is pleasantly audible, even in parts where you might argue the music is muddled in the standard mix. I'm really satisfied with it.
The sole issue I have is that this reissue opts for the single version of Viva La Vida, skipping the album version where the transition to Violet Hill is seamless. Arrrgh! I trusted you, Sonopress!!!!!!!!!! Apart from that, the sound quality is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It absolutely surpasses my Optimal Pressing reissue. There's practically no surface noise, the quality control and mastering are superior, and the dynamics are extraordinary. I'm astonished at how well it compares to the original CD, especially being an EcoRecord. 🤯 Fortunately, there's no locking groove, and the album ended just before the stylus hit the center of the deadwax. The Optimal Pressing on Side B has a locking groove that loops the last 2 seconds endlessly. This pressing, along with the First Edition and Notebook Edition of MOON MUSiC, are the best EcoRecord issues I own. The black EcoRecord pressings I have of Parachutes, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, and X&Y aren't bad, but they do have more noticeable surface noise compared to these clear pressings. I wonder if the vinyl pigment affects the noise floor at all. 🤔 Overall, I've been pleased with the EcoRecord issues of Coldplay's albums I've gotten recently. I'm thinking about replacing my entire collection of Coldplay LPs with these clear EcoRecords. I can't wait to hear how Music Of The Spheres sounds on clear EcoRecord. I was really let down by how noisy the Recycled Vinyl was. We'll see.
