Really blown away by every Coldplay eco record, but this particular one sounds phenomenal. I know this won't sway anyone's opinion in a Discogs comment, but this album truly showcases that Coldplay's pop appeal has real depth. Fantastic album, fantastic pressing, I highly doubt it'll be this affordable years down the line.
Following their previous pop-focused release, I was pleased to see Coldplay switch things up with this album. However, as time went on, I came to the realization that this record just didn't resonate with me. It lacked that special something that made their earlier work so outstanding. For me, it marked the start of the decline in my appreciation for Coldplay. Take, for instance, arguably the album's highlight, "Arabesque", which comes across as a bit of a copycat of Radiohead's "The National Anthem". Looking back, considering what followed, I've grown to appreciate this album a bit more – though it's still far from thrilling.
Seeing “eco vinyl” made me think the sound might not be great, but this album is fantastic. I can't compare it to the original, but it definitely holds its own among some of the best sounding records out there. There's hardly any surface noise and the soundstage is huge.
The album's alright. The cassette version is trash. My copy sounds like it's playing at half speed underwater.
Received this as a Christmas gift, and unfortunately, both records are quite warped. They're still playable and sound fantastic, but I'm definitely going to request a replacement. I've been into vinyl collecting for about a year now, and this is the worst warping I've come across. Most of the vinyl I purchase is new, so this is quite surprising, particularly since it was pressed by TMR. If you're okay with the chance of a warped record, you can't go wrong with this; it's affordable and it's a fantastic album. However, there was some noticeable surface noise on side B, not enough to ruin it, but enough to be heard. The packaging is top-notch, with printed inner sleeves as well as the lined paper inner sleeves, along with a small booklet and a download code, although it would be nice if it was a gatefold.EDIT: Got my replacement from Amazon, and I'm still a bit disappointed. While not as severe, there's still some warping, especially on the second record. Amazon also tore the top of the shrink wrap, so I can't keep it in the shrink like I do with all my other new non-gatefold records. Considering my options right now, I'm thinking about returning it.
