Useless Creatures - Andrew Bird

Product description

Andrew Bird's enchanting album, Useless Creatures, is a masterful blend of chamber pop, baroque pop, and indie folk. Originally released as part of the deluxe edition of his critically acclaimed album Noble Beast in 2009, this instrumental gem has been re-released as a standalone piece, allowing it to shine in its own right. Featuring the talented Glenn Kotche of Wilco on percussion and Todd Sickafoose on double bass, Useless Creatures is a whimsical and captivating listen.

With its nine intricate tracks, including Master Sigh, You Woke Me Up!, and Carrion Suite, this 50-minute album is a testament to Andrew Bird's innovative and eclectic style. The all-instrumental nature of the album lends a sense of gravity, while the whistling and other instrumentation add a touch of playfulness. As a companion to Noble Beast, Useless Creatures offers a unique perspective on Andrew Bird's artistry, but it also stands proudly on its own as a cohesive and engaging work.

Released on 25 October 2010 via Bella Union, Useless Creatures has been praised for its masterful execution, with many considering it a must-own record. Whether you're a long-time fan of Andrew Bird or just discovering his music, Useless Creatures is an album that will delight and inspire, showcasing the artist's boundless creativity and skill.

This LP was released in 2010.

  • Masking Noise Well

The tunes mask the irritating noise parts well, even during the calmer sections. Carrion Suite's skip is pretty harsh, though.
