The initial three tracks on this bonus CD are absolutely worth the cost of the whole thing. It's pretty cool to listen to the demo take of Tomorrow Never Dies (sic), and there's some enjoyable work-in-progress stuff alongside the already-out B-sides (though honestly can't quite picture Can I Have My Balls Back Please or My Erection ever being, well, finished). But yeah, It's A Dirty World and Like A Friend are definitely two of the standout tracks from the entire TIH period.
Owned the double CD for what feels like forever and just managed to grab a vinyl copy at an awesome price. And, wow, this one sounds fantastic, not a single problem. I've always thought Different Class was their best, but now I'm starting to have my doubts… though I can't make up my mind that quickly. Guess I'll have to give the CD another listen ;).
This is an amazing album, possibly Pulp's finest work. The discs are a bit of a letdown being 120g, and while the sound is clear, it seems to lack some richness. It's not a terrible pressing, just not as good as it could've been in my view. The discs are at least free from any noise, but I wouldn't have paid more than £20 for it.
this one sounds pretty good. i've only got an original cd to compare it to, but if you bump up the bass and turn down the treble, you get a punchy sound with some synths and strings standing out.
This vinyl sounds absolutely fantastic! I managed to find a near mint, barely played copy, and there's not a single hint of surface noise. The sound is incredibly clear and powerful. I'm usually pretty doubtful about Pulp's vinyl releases, particularly their 90s ones. I've had sealed first pressings of both 'His 'n' Hers' and 'Different Class,' and I wasn't blown away by the sound quality on any of them. But 'This is Hardcore' is in a class of its own. The sound quality is outstanding! It's likely because it's a double LP, and MPO did an amazing job with the pressing. This is the version you want! Believe me, you won't be disapointed.
