Gorgeous Tone Poet, incredibly quiet pressing, ideal for an intimate live performance. Not as easy to get into as other TPs, but absolute legends performing together here. A must-have for any jazz enthusiast.
Great pressing. 180g vinyl, spotless. The sound is absolutely fantastic. The sax is upfront and rich. The bass is natural yet powerful simultaneously. It's got that pure mono recording vibe. One of the top (if not the top) in terms of sound quality from this BN series. Fun fact: the BN80 logo is on the back of the sleeve, meaning it's from the 80 series, even though it wasn't officially released as such. A few months later, a more premium edition came out in the Tone Poet series. The thin cardboard sleeve stays true to the original design, with an antistatic inner sleeve. The version sold in Spanish stores included an 8-page collectible booklet about the artist and the album.
My version works fine. Shame it's not uniform. Still, it's definitely value swapping a defective one, since the sound quality is amazing in every way.
oh my goodness. the fact that this set was recorded live is simply amazing. what an incredible concert and record, both parts.
Curious about how Joe Henderson, Ron Carter, and Al Foster would sound jamming in your living room? Then GRAB THIS! (and don't miss Volume 2...)
