Beggars Arkive have truly outdone themselves with The Cult reissues, in my opinion. I initially got 'Love' on that see-through red vinyl, but it was full of those annoying pops and clicks, so I wasn't too sure about the rest. However, when I picked up 'The Cult' on white vinyl and it sounded amazing, I thought, why not give Sonic Temple and Ceremony a shot? Now, I'm no expert, but all these reissues sound pretty great to me. Just a heads up, they can be a bit dusty when they arrive, so a good clean is in order. But no complaints about warped, scratched records or damaged packaging from this label yet. I gave it 4 stars because there's no lyric insert. Ceremony isn't gatefold but comes with lyrics, while Sonic Temple is gatefold but lacks lyrics... weird, right? At £28, I reckon it's a fair price, especially when you consider that new coloured double LPs often cost £34 or more. I'd definitely recommend this.
I recently got my hands on a first pressing to accompany this 30th anniversary edition. Both versions are fantastic, so you really can't make a bad choice with either. Personally, I lean towards the first press as my top pick. My advice? Grab both if you can. First pressings aren't super hard to find, and the 30th reissue helps keep the price reasonable. Snag the original if you spot it, but in the meantime, this 30th anniversary version is a great enjoy!
Το δικό μου άλμπουμ που το αγόρασα το '92 δεν έχει τυπωμένο το εσώφυλλο του
This is a fantastic pressing. I also own the 2019 Beggars Banquet 30th Anniversary edition. That's not a terrible press, but this one certainly boasts a superior quality mix. Even though that version was pressed on thicker vinyl and spread across two discs. The clarity and dynamics of this original are truly outstanding.
Excellent pressing, no problems whatsoever for me. The audio quality is just as good, if not better, than the recent 30th anniversary black vinyl release. The green vinyl disc looks absolutely fantastic as well. I quickly swapped out the flimsy paper inners that came with it for some sturdier, static-free ones.
