Product description

Dive into the enchanting world of Bright Sheng's "Spring Dreams / 3 Fantasies / Tibetan Dance," a captivating exploration of Eastern musical traditions and contemporary composition. Released on January 27, 2009, via Naxos, this album is a testament to Sheng's unique ability to blend Western classical techniques with the rich sounds of his Chinese heritage.

The album opens with "Spring Dreams," a two-movement work for violin and Chinese orchestra that evokes the beauty and vibrancy of the season. The "3 Fantasies" showcase Sheng's versatility, with each piece drawing inspiration from different cultural influences, from the dreamlike "Dreams Song" to the evocative "Tibetan Air" and the romantic "Kazakhstan Love Song."

The album concludes with "Tibetan Dance," a three-movement suite that captures the energy and spirit of traditional Tibetan music. The piece is a vivid display of Sheng's ability to incorporate authentic folk elements into his compositions, resulting in a sound that is both familiar and innovative.

Featuring the exceptional Cho-Liang Lin on violin and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, this album is a celebration of cultural exchange and musical innovation. With a duration of just under 48 minutes, it's a concise yet powerful journey through the sounds and stories of Eastern music. Whether you're a fan of classical music, world music, or simply appreciate beautiful melodies, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
