This 1980 version (ABCD 808 F 314 G etched in the dead wax) has a muddy, covered-up sound, so I wouldn't suggest it. Pretzel Logic is among my top favorite albums, but this particular pressing just doesn't hit the mark for me. I ended up getting a clean copy instead.
I must say, the audio experience wasn't quite what I'd hoped for. The vinyl is impressively thick (my copy tipped the scales at 196g), smooth and hushed, yet the soundstage lacks the openness I'd anticipated. The instruments are well-defined and positioned, but the overall sound comes across as somewhat dull and uninspired. I haven't got an original to compare it with, but it's not disappointing enough for me to send it back. It should suit my needs over time.
Vibrant and lively, truly rather pleasant. Felt a tad muffled to me, though a hint of extra treble cleared it right up.
I must say, I'm really impressed with the copy I got—it looks like it's been well-loved. The sound quality is insane, honestly, it reminds me of a MoFi pressing or something straight from an analogue production, it's uncanny! But yeah, the record's spotless after giving it a good clean.
It's like experiencing the album fresh, with a deeper bass than I'm accustomed to, and vocals that shine clearer than any stream. If you stumble upon a good copy, grab it!
